IDC FutureScape: Worldwide Security 2017

Sean Pike
Program Vice President, Security Products

C. Sean Pike is Program Vice President for IDC’s Security Products group. In this role, Mr. Pike leads IDC’s Security Products, Data Security, Information Governance & eDiscovery, and Identity & Access Management research programs.

Mr. Pike provides competitive intelligence, strategic advisory, and thought leadership for security, data protection, governance, risk, compliance, and legal discovery technology and solutions. He examines the implications of emerging technology, legal and regulatory developments, and the threat landscape on organizations’ risk and compliance programs, information governance and data privacy initiatives, and legal discovery efforts. He also tracks the convergence of information management, storage, security, and IT operations technologies and the impact on various governance and discovery use cases.

Mr. Pike joined IDC in 2014 with 17 years of experience blending operational security, audit, and risk functions with the demands of regulatory and compliance programs within highly regulated industry. As both a hands on practitioner and attorney, he is uniquely positioned to interpret the legal and regulatory landscape providing insight on products and services designed to meet evolving security and discovery requirements.

Mr. Pike holds a J.D. from the Syracuse University College of Law and is an attorney licensed in the State of Maryland. Mr. Pike also holds a M.S. in Telecommunications from the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University, a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in National Security and Counterterrorism Law from the Syracuse University College of Law, and holds certifications as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).

Robert Ayoub
Research Director, Security Products

Rob Ayoub is a Research Director in IDC’s Security Products program. In this role he provides thought leadership and guidance for clients on a wide range of security products ranging from traditional Network Security products such as firewall, IPS, and UTM to emerging products designed to protect the cloud and the Internet of Thing (IoT). Rob is also responsible for research and analysis around a wide range of evolving security markets, including forensics and security and vulnerability management SVM).

Rob has extensive experience in the security industry, with over 10 years as an industry analyst and several years in solutions marketing for a security vendor. He is a frequently quoted analyst in trade publications, and has spoken at numerous conferences including RSA. Rob is actively involved in industry initiatives and education in his community and has served on the board of his local ISSA as well as being a mentor for Cyber Patriot, the National Youth Cyber Education Program.
